If you are a talented individual here is your chance to win up to $500 in a limited entry talent contest!!!
The next contest's winners will be chosen on February 28th.
Writing Contest
The writing contest has two divisions, Poetry and Short Story. Your short story should be no more than 1000 words and your poems no longer than 600 words. They can be shorter but no longer. Each entry will be judged for grammar and content on a 100 point scale with 2 points off for mispelled words. First prize is $500, second prize is $250, and a third prize is $125 for each division. The entry fee is $5.
Drawing Contest
The Drawing Contest currently has one division with plans to expand for the April Contest. Your drawing should be submitted on a paper no larger than 8 1/2" by 11" (the standard piece of typing paper). First place prize is $500, Second place prize is $250, and Third place prize is $125. The entry fee is $5.
Comedy Contest
The Comedy Contest has two divisions, Verbal Routines and Written Jokes. To enter the Joke Division send your joke or funny riddle on a standard piece of typing paper. First place prize is $200, second place prize is $100, and third place prize is $50. Entry fee is $3 The Verbal Routines Division is for you to send a audio cassette
recording of yourself doing a verbal comic routine of no more than 5 minutes. First place prize is $500, second place prize is $250, and third place prize is $125 with an entry fee of $5.
How to Enter
1. On each piece of your entry please put your full name and the contest in which you are entering. Be sure to state the division as well. For example: John Doe-Writing Contest, Poetry
2. Click on the entry form link and print out the entry form or copy it by hand.
3. Mail your entry, entry fee, and a entry form to:

Entry fee should be in the form of cash or money orders made out to "Dixie Starlets"
4. If you wish to have your work returned please enclose a self addressed, self stamped envelope with your entry or an extra $2 with your entry fee.
5. It is suggested that drawings and writings be mailed in a large manilla envelope and cassette tapes in a padded envelope to protect your work but it is not required that you do so.
6. If you wish to have your score sheet mailed to you please enclose an extra $2 with your entry fee.
Contest Dates
The above divisions are for the contest to be held on February 28, 1999.
The next projected contest date is April 30, 1999 with a planned expansion in the drawing division.
Each contest is limited to 350 entrants and will not be held until 300 entries are received. The projected date to announce the winners is February 28, 1999. If the date is postphoned due to lack of entries the people who have entered thus far thus far will be notified of the new date. Postponement is not expected! The contest may be held sooner upon the arrival of 300 entries. Any new entries received past the 350 mark for the February Contest will be transfered for the projected April Contest.
Contest Status
It is early in the February Contest. Response has been great so far and no postponements are planned. However, entries are somewhat down in the Verbal Routine Division so tell your friends and get those entries in! Stay tuned to this site for more information!
